School pictures came in today and were sent home with the kids! This cutie was a volunteer to take a picture with her school pictures for the blog! All these kids want to either be on the blog or have their work put on! I love it! We look at the blog as a class every so often!

Homework for today: Spelling notebook and reading log! We had a math test today so NO math homework tonight :)

Conferences

Hello! Just wanted to remind everyone conferences are already coming up! I have been sending home progress reports every other Monday, along with missing work! Remember those need to be signed and brought right back to school.

Below is a picture of both sides of the conferences form I sent home last Monday. It is on a purple paper! You put your child's name on and put your wanted times in order from 1st choice to 3rd. I already have 12 students placed in a time slot! I will send out the times when they are officially set.

**Conferences: Thursday, November 10, 2016 and Tuesday, November 15, 2016

Pumpkin Investigation

I totally forgot to upload our pictures from our pumpkin investigation last Wednesday! I hope you all had an amazing long weekend with your kids! I just want to share some of our pictures from last week…the kiddos had a BLAST getting their paws into these pumpkin guts. Enjoy the pictures!

I was so impressed with how clean some of these pumpkins got! I mean seriously...can they come carve and clean out my pumpkins??

A couple of groups of front "investigating" their pumpkins...time to dig out those seeds after making our estimations!

SMILE! How do they not make you smile? :)

Below is one group showing the rest of the class what they needed to do with their seeds once they got all the "guts" out! I love having the students explain directions in action! Plus they love to be the teacher!

Before the wash...

After the wash...

Cleaned out and possibly ready to carve?? We (me) carved two pumpkins in class this day...the focus was for them to understand all the important parts when carving a pumpkin...we had to first cut the top off, clean out the "guts", plan, choose a design, vote for a design, color on our design, and then we cut! I had a really good knife for carving thats why we were able to get two done!

Below is our first design (vampire) and our second design (minion) The minion was carved into someones pumpkin that they brought, so they were able to bring it home...I told him he NEEDED to get a picture of it lit up to show the class! Also we had a drawing at the end of the day for the extra pumpkins. We have a classroom spinner on our smart board and the four names that were chosen got to take home a hollowed out pumpkin! Share pictures with us if you carved them! The class would love to see what they got turned in too..

What's Happenin'

Below is a picture of the class room parents that have signed up for our Christmas, Halloween, and Valentines party! Please chat with each other to make plans for the party. I put your cell phone numbers to get in touch with each other! Let me know if you have any questions!

Next, we started TASTY FACTS this week! This is a one minute timing with twelve questions on it. All the students started on +0, and will be working their way up to +12 addition facts. The kids will all end up in different places due to some kids passing through quickly and some taking a little longer. Once they pass all their addiction facts they will move onto subtraction! This is a great fact practice for the students and they already are in to it! So in case you hear tasty facts in your house that is what it is all about!

Word work choice....These were just some fun ways to practice spelling. We are practicing writing our words in repetition by using the scribble bubbles! We also introduced "Write it and Stamp it". Basically the kids get stamps and write their words first, then stamp the letters to spell! It is great spelling practice and so fun at the same time!

Below you will see our art project from Friday! We did a directed drawing of Frankenstein and then the kids used their water colors to paint. I love how they all turned out so different! It was fun to get them hung up on their amazing work booklets! Scroll through their art work!
